Plants For A Temperate Food Forest

Plants For A Temperate Food Forest

Download The Excel File of Edible Temperate Climate Plants! Everything I’m growing (and things I’m not), plus you can sort by their hardiness, propagation method, use, etc!

I’ve listed the plants that have grown and thrived in my garden here on the south shore of Long Island. We are USDA Hardiness Zone 7 (0 – 10 degrees Fahrenheit), with temperatures occasionally dipping into Zone 6 (-10 to 0 degrees Fahrenheit). The ones I have already posted will have clickable links with pictures and blurbs on the care, uses, and the occasional recipe. Those I haven’t gotten to yet, will remain unclickable. Please check back frequently to see updates.

The hardiness zones, unless otherwise specified, is USDA. Some plants have varieties outside of their regular hardiness zones as well, so don’t give up just because it isn’t normally hardy in those zones.

I have updated the shade and sun tolerances. While I am listing the extremes they will live under, many fruit and berry trees won’t fruit prolifically unless they have sun. They will still produce something, just not much.
